FAQs
FAQs
Is Superba C moisturizing enough to use alone?
Superba C is not primarily a moisturizing serum, but focuses on brightening and repair. It has a very light and fast absorbing texture. You can use it before our serum emulsions or treatment creams, but it certainly cannot compensate for the emollient and nourishing properties of a moisturizer.
Is it better to use Superba C in the morning or at night?
Both options are great, but ideally you should use it in the morning. This form of vitamin C (10% sodium ascorbylphosphate or SAP) is non-photosensitizing and helps the skin protect itself from the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) against exogenous stressors such as UV radiation. We strongly recommend combining Superba C serum with our high SPF Solar I fluid.
Should this serum be cloudy (whitish) or clear? I noticed that it varies in opacity?
Yes, this is a perfectly normal and expected feature of this serum. The ingredients in Superba C simply react to room temperature. When the environment is warm enough, the ingredients make the formula slightly cloudy, but if you refrigerate it, it will revert to a completely clear texture.
Why is the expiration date of Superba C so short?
If you compare reputable cosmetic manufacturers with professional lines of vitamin C serum, you will notice that there is an overlap in the short shelf life of highly concentrated vitamin C serums. These expiration dates are indeed short because vitamin C loses its potency over time and the manufacturer guarantees its customers not only the microbiological stability of the product but also the stability of the vitamin C in the formulation. As vitamin C degrades in a product, its effect is no longer complete, i.e. a product that is still microbiologically correct simply no longer has the required efficacy. For this reason, vitamin C in professional lines, depending on the form used and the concentration of vitamin C, generally has a short shelf life, i.e. certainly much shorter than suggested by the microbiological testing of the product.
Superba C
The form of vitamin C found in Superba C Serum is sodium ascorbyl phosphate, better known as SAP (sodium ascorbyl phosphate). It is the extremely safe, stable, water-soluble form of vitamin C.
SAP is a potent antioxidant, very effective in brightening uneven and tired skin tone. At the same time, it keeps the skin radiant and clear.
SAP reduces oxidative stress on the skin caused by environmental factors, such as UV radiation and air pollution, which causes microscopic skin damage that accumulates over time. This accumulation of skin damage, as well as reduced collagen production, are considered signs of aging.
In addition to its antioxidant action, SAP also acts as a melanin inhibitor, making it particularly important as a cosmetic component that fights hyperpigmentation caused by the sun's rays (such as melasma) and post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Apart from the high concentration of SAP, the formula including ferulic acid and vitamin E is what differentiates Superba C from classic vitamin C serums. This complementary and excellently researched combination of ingredients is the indispensable part of the best vitamin C serums due to its exceptional antioxidant and photoprotective action. The use of vitamin C + vitamin E + ferulic acid in the morning, under SPF products, will enhance the protective properties of the sunscreen during sun exposure.
Skintegra Superba C is gentle enough even for sensitive skin. The delicate, smooth and fast absorbing texture allows for a more efficient and deeper absorption of the active ingredients.
It is packaged in a recyclable glass container. The expiration date is 6 months if stored at room temperature, while, if kept refrigerated, it is one year.
